NBBF Board Members Reject Resignation Claims, Accuse Kida

A controversy has arisen within the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) as board members, led by North Central Representative Adamu Deshi, dismissed rumors of resignations and accused the leadership, specifically outgoing President Engr. Musa Kida, of attempting to extend its tenure. Deshi stated that the NBBF's tenure was extended by FIBA until October 16, 2026, covering all board members.

He alleged that Kida was trying to evade accountability and had held meetings with five loyal board members while excluding eight others who had raised concerns about the federation's administration. Deshi accused Kida of violating the NBBF Constitution by failing to convene a congress for four years and unilaterally suspending officials, including Technical Representative Scott Nnaji and Players’ Representative Stanley Gumut.

He emphasized that resignation must be formally submitted in writing and that the president could not exclude elected members from activities. The dispute has escalated to the National Sports Commission, with a formal complaint submitted by the excluded members.
