NCAA Fines RwandAir N15 Million for Baggage Complaint

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) imposed a fine of N15 million on RwandAir for consumer protection-related infractions. NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu announced this sanction on his personal X handle on Friday.

The fine was due to RwandAir's failure to resolve a passenger's baggage complaint within the stipulated timeframe, violating the provisions governing consumer protection in the Nigerian aviation sector. Additionally, the NCAA directed RwandAir to replace the passenger's damaged baggage and pay $170 as first-need compensation, in accordance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.

This action reflects the NCAA's commitment to enforcing consumer protection regulations and ensuring that airlines address passenger complaints promptly. The NCAA has previously sanctioned both domestic and international carriers for various infractions, highlighting ongoing regulatory oversight in the aviation industry.
