Lagos Police Officers Summoned Over Assault Allegations

The Lagos State Police Command has summoned officers following allegations of assault and extortion made by Olugbenga Adeleke. Adeleke's complaint gained attention after a video of his ordeal went viral on social media.

He reported that on September 6, 2026, he was stopped by men not in police uniforms while returning home to the Akera Tide community. He claimed he was assaulted, unlawfully detained, and extorted by police officers at the Ebenezer Police Station, Alagbado/Ojokoro.

Adeleke stated that he was hit in the face and dragged into a bus, where he was further assaulted at the station and detained overnight without a clear explanation. He alleged that he was told to arrange for bail money despite not being informed of any charges against him.

Adeleke sustained an injury to his eye during the incident and has called for an investigation by the police authorities, urging that the identities of the officers involved be established and appropriate actions taken. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that an investigation has commenced.
