Senator Ndume Slams Trump for Ignorance on Nigeria's Security Realities

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South sharply rebuked U.S. President Donald Trump for calling the violence in Nigeria a Christian genocide, stating that it shows ignorance and misinformation.

Ndume argued that the violence in Nigeria cannot be reduced to religious targeting, as both Christians and Muslims suffer in the country's insecurity, particularly in areas affected by Boko Haram. He criticized Trump for lacking insight into Nigeria's complex security environment and urged diplomatic engagement to counter misconceptions about religious violence in the country.

Ndume also sponsored a motion in the Senate challenging the portrayal of Nigeria as a country of particular concern based on genocide narratives, emphasizing the need to address the real ground realities.
