Ndume Urges Focus on Tinubu's Performance, Not Credentials

Ali Ndume, the former Senate Leader and current senator representing Borno South, urged opposition parties to assess President Bola Tinubu based on his performance rather than his academic certificates. In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, Ndume described the renewed scrutiny of Tinubu's credentials as a distraction from more pressing campaign issues ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He emphasized that opposition candidates should present their economic policies and alternative solutions rather than fixating on Tinubu's educational background. Ndume pointed out that Tinubu has been in office for over three years and that the focus should be on his government's handling of economic and security issues.

He referenced Section 131(d) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that a presidential candidate must be educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent, asserting that Tinubu meets this requirement. Ndume also noted that the courts had previously settled the issue of Tinubu's qualifications following the 2023 presidential election.
