NEDC Project Coordinator and Accomplice Remanded in Prison Over N5bn Contract Fraud

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja has remanded Danjuma Moham, the Project Coordinator of the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), and his associate Chibuik Echem in Suleja Prison, Niger State, over an alleged N5 billion contract fraud. They are accused of involvement in a scam that includes advanced fee fraud, forgery, and awarding fake contracts.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought 55 criminal charges against them, alleging that they defrauded Kenneth Ejiofor Ifekudu of sums totaling N2.2 billion between May 2022 and February 2024. Echem is also accused of collecting N573 million in a Wema Bank account under false pretenses.

The court has set trial dates and denied their bail applications.
