New Livestock Plan to Create 350,000 Jobs in Nigeria

Dr. Akajiugo Emeka Obegolu, the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), revealed a new livestock development plan that aims to create 350,000 job opportunities in Nigeria within the first two years of implementation.

In an interview with Trust TV, Dr. Obegolu highlighted the importance of establishing a national livestock development fund to facilitate access to funding for farmers and stakeholders across various stages of the value chain.

He expressed appreciation for the government's commitment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extricate the livestock sector from the Ministry of Agriculture and establish a dedicated Ministry of Livestock Development. Dr.

Obegolu emphasized the need for a conducive environment to enable private sector investment, stating that the government should provide a framework and policy guidance to support this growth. He also discussed the necessity of investing in grazing reserves, feedlots, and meat processing plants to enhance the efficiency of livestock production and distribution in Nigeria.
