Nigeria Boosts Local Solar Panel Production Amid Import Decline

Nigeria has seen a significant increase in local assembly of solar panels as import of solar cells declines. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) reported a shift towards fully assembled panels, with the import of 110 megawatts of solar cells in October 2025 compared to just 82 megawatts of finished panels.

This move is in line with the government's efforts to promote local value creation and reduce dependence on imports. The country aims to enhance its clean energy solutions and boost domestic manufacturing through these new regulations.
