Delta Air Lines Cancels 214 Flights Amid Storm Disruptions

Delta Air Lines canceled a total of 214 flights within 48 hours as severe thunderstorms and damaging winds impacted LaGuardia Airport in New York City, leading to FAA intervention. On Sunday alone, there were 119 canceled departures and 105 canceled arrivals at LaGuardia.

The situation also affected Delta's major hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which saw 94 canceled departures and 61 canceled arrivals. The disruptions were part of a broader issue, with Delta experiencing ongoing flight cancellations and delays due to weather-related problems.

Delta's regional subsidiary, Endeavor Air, contributed to the cancellations with 93 flights affected. Passengers expressed frustration on social media regarding the recurrent weather-related disruptions.

Delta's CEO, Ed Bastian, indicated that the airline was working to address these issues, and the airline offered flexible rebooking options for affected travelers. The situation is expected to continue impacting flight operations, with travel alerts issued for June 17.
