New Zealand Upgrades Visa Process for Family Members

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has announced a significant change in its visa processing system, stating that from June 1, 2026, applications for family members of temporary visa holders will be processed through its upgraded Immigration Online platform. This transition is part of INZ's broader initiative, the Our Future Services programme, aimed at consolidating all visa types onto a modernized platform.

The enhanced Immigration Online system was first introduced in 2021 and has since migrated several visa categories, including International Student Visas and Visitor Visas. The new application process will automatically direct applications for specific visas, including the Dependent Child Student Visa and various Partner Work and Visitor Visas, through the enhanced portal.

Applications submitted before the transition will continue to be processed normally, but applicants with saved drafts must decide whether to complete those or start anew in the new system. INZ aims to provide a faster, simpler process with improved guidance and self-service options for applicants.
