New Zealand Lists 9 Care Sector Jobs for Residency Pathway

New Zealand has released a list of nine specific care sector occupations that qualify workers for permanent residency under the Care Workforce and Transport Sector Pathway to Residence. According to New Zealand Immigration, applicants must have worked full-time in one of the listed occupations for at least 24 months within the 30 months preceding their application.

The eligible roles encompass various care and support positions, including aged care, disability support, residential services, and child welfare settings, reflecting areas of sustained workforce demand. Additionally, applicants must have received at least the care workforce sector wage rate throughout their qualifying period.

This wage requirement is mandatory and cannot be waived for any of the listed roles. The pathway stipulates that only full-time employment in the specified roles counts towards the qualifying period, excluding casual or part-time hours.

Applicants have a 30-month window to accumulate their 24 months of qualifying employment, allowing for some flexibility if they change employers within the sector.
