Governor Wike Threatens Forceful Action Against Rivers State Government Amid Rising Tensions

Governor Wike of Rivers State issued a warning, threatening to forcefully break demands if not approved by the state government. The tension in Rivers State escalated on Friday as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister accused the state government of frustrating activities and denying access to public facilities.

Wike made these allegations during the inauguration of the Senatorial and Local Government Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassador. He specifically addressed the denial of access to the Yakubu Gowon Stadium for inauguration, which was eventually held at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic in Rumuola, a venue owned by the Rivers State Government.

The ceremony was notably absent of Governor Siminalayi Fubara's support, despite his public affirmation of loyalty to President Bola Tinubu. Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly resumed impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and Deputy Professor Ngozi Odu based on allegations of financial misappropriation.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is working to resolve the political crisis in the state, with the party's National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, playing a key role in stabilization efforts.
