NEZA Calls for Dialogue on Tax Reforms Impacting Economic Zones

The Nigeria Economic Zones Association (NEZA) has welcomed tax reforms but called for constructive dialogue on provisions affecting Special Economic Zones and Free Trade Zones. NEZA emphasized the need for stakeholder engagement to address concerns related to the new tax laws impacting SEZs and FTZs.

The Executive Secretary, Toyin Elegbede, highlighted the potential risks these provisions pose to Nigeria's investment climate. While commending the government for enacting the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and Tax Administration Act 2025, NEZA raised issues regarding the taxation of free zone enterprises within Nigeria's customs territory.

The association expressed worries about the uncertainty created among investors and the potential negative impact on the attractiveness of Nigeria's free zones.
