NFF Slams Referees Over AFCON Exclusion, Vows Tough Sanctions

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has criticized referees' exclusion from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) list, warning of stricter penalties. NFF expressed frustration over the absence of Nigerian referees in the official selection for the tournament in Morocco.

Dr. Moham Sanusi revealed that eight referees have been suspended indefinitely across various leagues.

Sanni Zubair acknowledged Nigerian officials falling short of CAF's requirements, emphasizing the need for practical experience and technological advancements like Video Assistant Referee (VAR) systems.
