Military Widows Support Initiative Aids 150 Families

The Military Widows Support Initiative (MWSI) provided assistance to 150 widows of fallen heroes in Abuja through interest-free loans, cash gifts, and foodstuffs. The initiative, led by Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, aims to complement the support provided by the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Folorunsho emphasized that the loss experienced by these women cannot be fully addressed by the military alone, hence the need for additional support. This year, the initiative also distributed undisclosed units of Dangote shares to 20 widows as future investments.
MWSI has been operational for three years, relying on personal funds and contributions from supporters. Mrs. Salome Gwaza, a beneficiary and head of partnerships for MWSI, highlighted the importance of corporate support for the families of fallen heroes, advocating for assistance in education and job opportunities.
The Nigerian Navy has also contributed to the initiative, although the financial support provided is not sufficient to cover all educational expenses.
