Nigeria Implements Free 48-Hour Emergency Medical Treatment Policy

Nigeria has introduced a policy offering free emergency medical treatment within the initial 48 hours, as confirmed by Prof. Saleh Yuguda of the National Blood Service Commission.

The National Emergency Medical Services Ambulance System (NEMSA) is spearheading this initiative to establish a sustainable emergency response system nationwide. The program aims to standardize emergency services, improve access to care, and educate citizens on life-saving interventions.

Dr. Emuren Doubra highlighted the operationalization of emergency medical treatment through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) and NEMSA's coordinated framework.
