Peter Obi Urges Leadership Action Against Nigeria's Insecurity

Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate and ex-governor of Anambra State, voiced serious concerns regarding Nigeria's deteriorating security situation. In a statement shared via his verified handle on Tuesday, Obi lamented the increasing disregard for human life and the government's failure to protect its citizens.

He referenced a series of violent incidents, including the killing of 11 Nigerians in Katsina State, 7 in Benue State, and 23 in Adamawa State, along with entire families being brutally murdered in Plateau State. Obi noted that 24 children were abducted in Kogi State and 10 in Kaduna State within a 48-hour period.

He emphasized that these tragedies are not mere statistics but represent real families suffering loss. Obi called for urgent and coordinated leadership responses to confront the escalating violence, stressing that Nigeria cannot develop under the weight of persistent insecurity and human tragedy.
