Nigeria Customs Exempts $300 Goods from Import Duty to Boost Trade Facilitation

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced the exemption of goods valued at $300 from import duty, effective September 8, 2025. The decision, approved during the NCS Governing Board's meeting chaired by Finance Minister Wale Edun, aligns with global practices to simplify clearance processes and enhance trade facilitation.

The exemption applies to consignments, express shipments, and passenger baggage, limited to four imports per annum. This move aims to provide clarity to stakeholders and travelers, following a comprehensive review of similar practices.

The threshold value exemption is in line with relevant provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
