Nigeria Exits FATF Grey List, Wale Edun Commends Reform Progress

Nigeria has been removed from the FATF Grey List after meeting the required standards in its action plan, boosting the country's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regime. Wale Edun, speaking on behalf of the Nigerian delegation, highlighted the deeper reforms that led to Nigeria's delisting.

The country's improved inter-agency coordination and regulatory oversight were key factors in this achievement. The decision was announced during the FATF's October 2025 plenary session in Paris.

Nigeria was initially placed on the Grey List in February 2023 due to strategic deficiencies in its AML/CFT framework, but subsequent reforms and strong political commitment have led to this successful outcome.
