Nigeria Leads Africa in Payment Maturity Rating, NIP Platform Recognized

Nigeria's NIP platform, operated by NIBSS, has been recognized as the first system in Africa to reach a mature tier in the instant payment landscape. This achievement was highlighted in the SIIP Africa 2025 report launched in Eswatini, positioning Nigeria at the forefront of inclusive, secure, and real-time payment systems.

The platform's success is attributed to strong participation from banks, fintech, and non-bank operators, along with robust consumer protection measures. Oiwoh, the Managing Director and CEO of NIBSS, received an award for the platform's vision of inclusive growth and commitment to delivering faster, safer, and interoperable payment infrastructure.
