Nigerian Copyright Commission Director Reveals Billions Lost in Intellectual Property Theft

The Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, John Asein, revealed that Nigeria has lost billions of dollars in intellectual property due to theft over the past few years. Speaking at a workshop organized by the Art and Culture Writers Association of Nigeria in Abuja, Asein emphasized the negative impact of piracy on the creative industry.

The workshop also addressed the evolving copyright landscape in the digital age and introduced the Mose Ekpo Prize for innovation in copyright. Additionally, the Nation Press Council introduced a fact-checking app to combat misinformation.
