Nigeria May Demand 5-Year Social Media History From U.S. Visa Applicants

The Nigerian government is considering demanding a five-year social media history from U.S. visa applicants in response to a similar requirement imposed by the United States. The U.S. recently announced that Nigerian visa applicants must provide details of their social media accounts from the past five years, with the possibility of denial if information is omitted.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson mentioned the possibility of a reciprocal measure for Nigerian citizens applying for U.S. visas. The government is planning to convene a meeting involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and National Intelligence Agency to determine the official response.

This move aims to ensure that Nigerian citizens are aware of the new requirements and may be implemented to maintain reciprocity in visa application processes.
