Festus Onigbinde, born on March 29, 1938, in Ibadan, Oyo State, was a legendary figure in Nigerian football, known for his tactical acumen and commitment to youth development. He first gained prominence with the Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan and later led Water Corporation FC Ibadan to the quarter-finals of the African Champions Club Cup in 1977.

Onigbinde made history as the first indigenous coach to lead Nigeria's senior men's national team, winning a silver medal at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations. He also managed the Super Eagles during the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan, where he introduced young talents like Vincent Enyeama and Femi Opabunmi.
