Nigeria's FG Denies Claims of Imminent Collapse

On Wednesday, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through Minister of Information Mohammed Idris, rejected claims that Nigeria is on the verge of collapse, insisting that the country is making steady progress in tackling security and economic challenges. This statement was made in response to warnings from a coalition of civil society organizations about worsening insecurity and economic hardship.

During the 81st General Assembly of Broadcast Organizations Nigeria, Idris emphasized the resilience of the nation in facing difficulties and highlighted ongoing security operations that have reportedly neutralized bandits and reduced large-scale insurgency. He noted improvements in foreign reserves and revenue sources, attributing these gains to reforms aimed at enhancing fiscal discipline.

Idris also urged the media to uphold professional standards and avoid narratives that could deepen divisions, especially as the country approaches an election cycle. The assembly was attended by various dignitaries, including Prof. Joash Amupitan and Charl Ebuebu.
