Nigeria's Palm Oil Output to Reach 1.57 Million Tonnes by 2025

Nigeria's palm oil production is expected to hit 1.57 million tonnes by 2025, indicating consistent growth over the past five years. This development has reignited international interest in Nigeria's ambition to reclaim its leading position in the global palm oil market.

The figures were disclosed during a mission visit by the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) to Abuja, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The council reaffirmed its commitment to expanding technical and policy cooperation with Nigeria, particularly in oil palm product development and supply chain alignment.

Izzana Salleh, the CPOPC Secretary General, emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among African producers to support Nigeria's long-term palm oil strategy. Dr. Alphonsu Inyang, President of the National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria (NPPAN), noted that Nigeria aims to gain full CPOPC membership, which would enhance access to improved technology and increase the oil extraction ratio of palm oil and palm kernel.

Despite being one of Africa's largest palm oil producers, Nigeria still faces a domestic supply shortfall, necessitating improvements in production to meet rising consumption.
