Nigeria to Compete with 10 Boxers at African Championships

Nigeria is set to compete at the inaugural African Boxing Elite Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, from 15 to 28 October, with a delegation of 19 members, including 10 boxers across five men’s and five women’s weight categories. The National Sports Commission (NSC) announced this in a statement on Monday, signed by Kola Daniel, Special Assistant on Media to the Director-General of the NSC.
The Nigerian team will depart Nigeria on 13 October and arrive in Nairobi on 14 October, ahead of the championship. The NSC emphasized that the competition would allow Nigeria’s elite boxers to test their skills against top opponents from across Africa, providing them with valuable international experience.
The commission expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and urged the athletes to represent Nigeria with discipline and determination, wishing them success in the competition. Nigeria's participation aims to strengthen its presence in African boxing and showcase the country's boxing talent.
