Nigeria to Evacuate Citizens from South Africa Soon

The Nigerian government is preparing to evacuate its citizens from South Africa, confirmed by Mr. Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Nigerian Mission in Pretoria. The evacuation process will continue until Wednesday, June 10, with a verification and screening process already in place.

President Bola Tinubu has approved five evacuation flights to facilitate the return of affected Nigerians. The first evacuation flight is expected to depart Johannesburg on Monday, subject to the receipt of necessary permits and aircraft clearance.

The Ministry of State will provide details regarding the departure schedule and estimated arrival time in Lagos, which will be communicated once updates are received from the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa. This evacuation initiative underscores the Nigerian government's commitment to the welfare and protection of its citizens abroad, ensuring a smooth and orderly return process for those seeking to come back home.
