Nigeria Targets $1bn Agribusiness Growth with Kampala Declaration Adoption

Nigeria is focusing on agricultural transformation by adopting the Kampala Declaration to drive sustainable food production and agro-industrial growth until 2036. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, led by Abubakar Kyari, announced the development during a summit on comprehensive African agricultural development.

Nigeria aims to strengthen its agrifood system, promote climate-smart innovations, reduce post-harvest losses, and attract private investments. The government has committed over $538 million to establish Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in Kaduna, Cross River, and Ogun State, expecting to attract additional investments of $1 billion by 2027.

These initiatives aim to create jobs, enhance local manufacturing, and boost agricultural exports.
