Nigerian Diaspora Praises Tinubu's Procurement Reforms

The Nigerian diaspora, particularly the Nigerian Enterprise Community UK, has lauded President Bola Tinubu's ongoing reforms in the public procurement sector. Christana Ayodel, a representative of the diaspora, stated that these reforms are transforming the procurement landscape, benefiting both local and diaspora businesses.

The reforms are noted for encouraging international investors to engage with Nigerian businesses, with significant improvements in transparency and access to competitive procurement processes. Despite Nigeria's procurement sector ranking among the top 15 globally, there is a call for wider appreciation of these reforms as a major milestone in enhancing investor confidence and attracting foreign participation.

The reforms have made it increasingly possible for Nigerians abroad to participate in the public procurement process without relying on personal connections, promoting a merit-driven system aligned with international best practices. The diaspora group pledged continued support for initiatives that promote transparency and economic growth in Nigeria.

Adebowale Adedokun, Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, recently received recognition for these public sector reforms.
