Nigerian Entrepreneur Receives $140K Grant to Tackle Menstrual Stigma in Ghana

Nigerian entrepreneur Chika Nwaogu has secured a $140,000 grant from the Chocolonely Foundation to address menstrual stigma in Ghana. With UNICEF estimating that one in 10 girls in Africa miss school due to menstruation, Nwaogu plans to use the funds to scale up menstrual health education in Ghana's Volta Region through his social enterprise, PadHer.

The initiative aims to make menstrual and sexual health education more engaging and accessible by leveraging innovative tools like comic animations and digital games. Nwaogu expressed that the grant marks a significant milestone in tackling menstrual challenges and ensuring no girl is left behind.

PadHer will collaborate with Girls Club Ghana to extend outreach to thousands of schoolgirls through classroom programs and the distribution of reusable sanitary products.
