Nigerian Football Legend Onome Ebi Retires After 24-Year Career

Nigerian football legend Onome Ebi announced her retirement after a remarkable 24-year career, starting in 2001. Ebi, a defender, earned 109 caps for the Super Falcons, making her the most capped Nigerian female footballer.

She participated in six FIFA Women's World Cups and helped Nigeria win four African Women's Cup of Nations titles. Ebi played for clubs in Europe before returning to Nigeria in 2023.

She plans to focus on developing young talent and supporting footballers across Africa through mentoring and advocacy work.
