Nigerian Man Arrested for Hacking US University Systems in $235,000 Cybercrime

Farouk Adekunle Adepoju, a Nigerian national residing in the United Kingdom, was arrested for allegedly hacking into US university systems to steal $235,000 through wire and computer fraud. Adepoju's arrest followed a formal extradition request, with authorities claiming he orchestrated a sophisticated cybercrime scheme targeting a university in Western Pennsylvania.

The arrest was made after the United States government requested it, and Adepoju is currently awaiting extradition to face charges in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Prosecutors allege that Adepoju hacked into a construction company's computer and manipulated email rules to deceive the university into transferring the stolen funds.
