Nigerian Military Denies Presence of American Troops, Emphasizes Security Partnership

The Nigerian Military Headquarters has denied reports of American troops being deployed in Nigeria for combat operations. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, clarified that the partnership between Nigeria and the United States focuses on training, intelligence sharing, and logistical assistance, excluding combat operations.

The statement follows comments by General Dagvin R. M.

Anderson of the United States Africa Command suggesting American personnel were in Nigeria to support counterterrorism efforts. The Nigerian military stressed that any cooperation with foreign nations is conducted within approved bilateral agreements, respecting Nigeria's sovereignty.

Recent high-level meetings in Abuja aimed to enhance existing cooperation against terrorism and violent threats. Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security systems without compromising territorial control.
