Nigerian Writers, Others Mourn Passing of Poet-Journalist, Evelyn Osagie

Renowned journalist, poet, and cultural advocate Evelyn Osagie passed away in Lagos on August 17 after a brief illness, leaving the Nigerian literary and cultural community in deep sorrow. Osagie, described as a vibrant and upwardly mobile journalist with a passion for storytelling and advocacy, made significant contributions to the arts and culture beat during her nearly decade-long career.

She was praised for her perceptive mind, creative detail, and dedication to amplifying the voices of artists and shedding light on critical issues. Osagie's work as an Assistant Editor at The Nation Newspaper in Lagos earned her recognition, including the Nigeria Media Merit Award and the Beatrice Bassey Prize for Female Reporter of the Year in 2015.
