Nigeria's Q4 2025 Exports Drop 5.3%, Imports Rise

According to the latest foreign trade statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday, Nigeria's exports decreased by 5.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025, totaling 18.96 trillion naira. This decline was primarily attributed to a significant drop in crude oil exports, which accounted for 51.17% of total exports, valued at 9.70 trillion naira, reflecting a 29.60% decrease compared to Q4 2024.
Non-crude oil exports stood at 9.26 trillion naira, representing 48.83% of total exports. The total merchandise trade for the quarter was 36.21 trillion naira, marking a 1.07% decline from the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, total imports rose to 17.25 trillion naira, a 3.98% increase from Q4 2024. China remained Nigeria's largest import partner, followed by the United States, Netherlands, India, and Brazil.
Despite the decline in exports, Nigeria sustained a trade surplus throughout 2025.
