Nigeria's Flying Eagles Set to Clash with Ghana in WAFU B

Nigeria's Flying Eagles will compete against Ghana's Black Satellites in the opening match of the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship on July 29, 2024, at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire. This match is a rematch of the last edition's final, where Nigeria triumphed 2-1 in Lome, Togo, under the guidance of Coach Isa Ladan Bosso and strategist Aliyu Zubairu.

Current coach Abdu Maikaba, a former assistant coach, expresses confidence in his team's preparation, stating their objective is to secure an outright victory against Ghana. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2 PM local time (3 PM Nigeria time).

A win would position Nigeria favorably for a semi-final spot, with upcoming matches against Togo and Burkina Faso in Group B. The Flying Eagles recently won a friendly match against Athletique Club de Zenuola 2-1, further boosting their morale ahead of the tournament.
