Civil Servants' Integrity Key to Nigeria's Progress, Says Faleke

James Faleke, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, stated that Nigeria's progress relies on civil servants resisting political pressure and upholding integrity and due process. He spoke in Abuja on a Sunday during the launch of a book titled "Nigerian Legislature: Practical Guide for Lawmakers," authored by retired Clerk of the House Committee on Finance, Oscar Okoro, who was also celebrating his 60th birthday.

Faleke highlighted the critical role of civil servants in ensuring government policies are implemented according to established rules. He noted that civil servants must prioritize the country's welfare over political pressures.

Abubakar Saidu, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, and Akin Rotimi, House Spokesman, also paid tribute to Okoro, describing him as a model public servant whose work ethic serves as a valuable lesson for younger public servants. The book, reviewed by Professor Kabir Danladi, covers the constitutional foundations and legislative procedures of Nigeria's National Assembly.
