NIMASA Accredits 27 Shipyards in Nigeria to Boost Maritime Industry Growth

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has accredited 27 registered shipyards across Nigeria, with 10 in Lagos, 8 in Rivers, and 9 in Delta state. This move, in line with NIMASA's mandate, aims to enforce safety and operational standards, enhance industry confidence, protect maritime assets, and drive sustainable growth.

The accreditation process involves assigning keel identification numbers to vessels built in these facilities, ensuring adherence to international safety and environmental standards. NIMASA seeks to maintain transparency, boost investor confidence, and align local operations with global best practices.
