NNPC Launches New Crude Oil Grade Cawthorn for Export

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has announced the export of a new crude oil grade known as Cawthorn, marking a significant milestone in its strategy to increase Nigeria's crude oil production and expand its global competitive export portfolio. The Cawthorn blend has an API gravity of 36.4, placing it firmly within the light sweet category, which is highly valued in the global market due to its superior petrol and diesel yield.

The first shipment of 950,000 barrels is scheduled to be loaded onto the MT Eburon vessel, heading to the Netherlands on April 5, 2026. This export will be facilitated through a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel strategically located offshore Bonny River State, enhancing crude evacuation from OML 18 and strengthening Nigeria's export reliability.

Engr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's policies aimed at sector reform and emphasized the company's commitment to operational discipline and sustainable growth in energy security.
