NNPC Signs MoU for Warri, Port Harcourt Refinery Expansion

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two Chinese companies, Sanjiang Chemical Company Limited and Xingcheng Fuzhou Industrial Park Operation Management Co. Ltd., to facilitate the restart and expansion of the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries.

The MoU was signed by NNPC's Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, and the chairmen of the two Chinese firms, Guan Jianzhong and Bill Bi. This agreement aims to complete outstanding work at the refineries, maintain operational efficiency, and achieve sustainable performance.

The collaboration also includes plans for upgrading facilities to produce cleaner products and potentially expanding petrochemical capacities. Ojulari emphasized that this MoU marks a significant milestone following six months of technical engagement with the Chinese partners, recognizing the mutual benefits of developing NNPC's refining assets in Nigeria.
