Iran Uncertain on Peace Talks as Tensions with U.S. Rise

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, announced that no decision has been made regarding participation in new peace negotiations in Washington, as uncertainty looms over the ongoing conflict in the region. The U.S. delegation is set to depart for Pakistan on Monday, with President Donald Trump indicating a potential resumption of military actions if a peace deal is not reached.

Earlier this month, talks in Islamabad ended without an agreement, with both sides accusing each other of violating a temporary ceasefire. Trump has suggested that if a ceasefire is not agreed upon, hostilities could resume, stating, "a lot of bombs start to go off." The current ceasefire is set to expire overnight Tuesday, Tehran time, which has led to a sharp increase in oil prices due to fears of renewed conflict, particularly concerning the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
