Dangote Urges National Forum to Tackle Nigeria's Energy Crisis

Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man and chairman of Dangote Group, called on the Nigerian government to urgently convene a national forum dedicated to resolving Nigeria's chronic power crisis. He warned that without stable electricity supply, there can be no industrial growth or job creation.

Dangote made this passionate appeal on Tuesday during the launch of Nigeria's industrial policy in Abuja, addressing Vice President Kashim Shettima and senior government officials alongside industry leaders. He highlighted that manufacturers are forced to spend money generating their own electricity, which is unsustainable.

Dangote criticized the current situation where factories rely on backup generators and stressed the need for a robust policy framework to protect local industries. He also noted that the private sector accounts for nearly 90% of Nigeria's GDP and emphasized the importance of promoting indigenous entrepreneurship.

Dangote's remarks underscore the critical link between energy supply and economic growth in Nigeria.
