Nollywood Actor Cjay Nwokafor Passes Away, Shocking Fans

Chijioke “Cjay” Nwokafor, a Nollywood actor, has passed away, prompting mourning within the Nigerian entertainment industry. Actress Nkechi Blessing announced his death on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing personal videos and expressing her grief.

She did not disclose the cause of death but canceled the release of her film, Egusi Ogbono, which featured Cjay, initially scheduled for 5pm on the same day. Blessing revealed she had spoken to Cjay at 8am before receiving news of his death a few hours later.

Other actors, including Charles Born and Emeka Nwagbaraocha, expressed disbelief and sorrow over the loss, with Born noting he had planned to visit Cjay in the hospital. As of the time of reporting, Cjay’s family and colleagues had not released further details about his death or funeral arrangements.

Cjay began his acting career in 2021 and appeared in several productions, including Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, and A Day to My Wedding. He hailed from Anambra State.
