Nollywood now about looks, BBL, not passion — Bimbo Akintola

Veteran actress Bimbo Akintola criticized the current state of Nollywood, stating that the industry has shifted from passion and creativity to an obsession with glamour and cosmetic procedures like Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL). In a recent interview, Akintola contrasted the early days of Nollywood with its present state, noting the disappearance of the hunger and grit that once defined the industry.

She highlighted that today's Nollywood is more focused on appearance rather than storytelling, with a spike in BBL procedures. While acknowledging that looks may fade, Akintola praised stage actors for retaining their passion, suggesting that the passion in film may have been lost.

She emphasized the importance of passion in the industry, noting that it is what drives people to do their best in front of an audience.
