NPA and NPERA Collaborate to Enhance Inland Dry Ports

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) are working to enhance inter-agency collaboration for the management and regulation of Inland Dry Ports (IDPs) in Nigeria. This initiative follows a high-level meeting at the NPA Corporate Headquarters in Lagos, convened by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola.

The meeting aimed to develop a framework for effective collaboration between the two agencies in light of recent regulatory reforms in the maritime sector. NPA's Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, congratulated NPERA's Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Pius Akutah, on the new legislation that rebranded the former Nigerian Shippers’ Council into NPERA.

Dantsoho emphasized NPA's commitment to supporting NPERA's new role, highlighting the transition as an opportunity to strengthen Nigeria's logistics system and improve cargo movement from seaports to the hinterland. Akutah noted the strategic importance of NPA in ensuring the effective operation of IDPs as vital centers for cargo transit and distribution.
