NSA Denies Claims of Toxic Chemical Import from Poland

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has addressed allegations concerning the importation of 10 kilograms of thallium sulfate, a toxic chemical, from Poland. This claim was brought to light by former Kaduna State Governor El-Rufai, who expressed concerns about the potential public safety risks associated with the substance, which is colorless and odorless.

El-Rufai requested clarification on the procurement process, including whether the chemical was obtained from a U.S. company and if proper approvals were secured from relevant agencies, such as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. In response, a senior official from ONSA rejected the allegations, labeling them as untrue and asserting that the agency did not procure any toxic substances as claimed.
