Air Peace Suspends Pilot Over Runway Incident Amid Alcoholism Allegations

Air Peace airline suspended the pilot of a Boeing aircraft that overshot the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport in July 2025. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) reported that the pilot tested positive for alcohol, while a cabin crew member tested positive for cannabis.

However, Air Peace denied the pilot's alcoholism, stating that the test results were not communicated to them by the NSIB. The airline emphasized that the pilot was suspended for disregarding standard procedures.

The incident raises concerns about aviation safety and regulatory compliance in Nigeria.
