NUPRC in Delta State Commits to Implementing PIA 2021 for Host Community Benefits

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) conducted a sensitization workshop in Delta State to ensure compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021. The workshop aimed to align processes with the law, establish trust between petroleum operators and host communities, and provide direct social and economic benefits to the communities.

Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan, the Chief Executive of NUPRC, reassured stakeholders of the commitment to implementing the PIA effectively. The Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, commended NUPRC for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and trust among stakeholders.

Hon Peter Uviejitobor highlighted the need for sustainable development and transparency in the petroleum sector. The workshop also focused on key provisions of the PIA, including the establishment of host community development trust funds and grievance mechanisms.

Stakeholders, including community leaders like Pere Akugben Mein and Hrm Stanlei Peredigha Luke Kalanama V111 Olugbo Ugbo Oba Fredrick, praised NUPRC for engaging with critical stakeholders and ensuring community development.
