Oba Lateef Adams: Fashion Designer Turned King

Oba Lateef Adams, the king of Ikat Kingdom in Lagos State, is recognized as a pioneering fashion entrepreneur, having founded Latri Fashion. He has designed clothes for several Nigerian presidents, including Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo, and Goodluck Jonathan, but not for former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Adams, who ascended the throne in 2016, reflects on his journey from a middle-class background, where his father worked for the Nigerian Railway Corporation, to becoming a king. He attributes his royal lineage to his mother, who was of royal blood from Shagamu, Ogun State.

Throughout his reign, he has focused on community welfare and development, ensuring that the presence of the monarchy benefits the people. Adams acknowledges the support of his wife and the role of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his journey to kingship.

He aims to improve infrastructure in his community, emphasizing the importance of good roads for the welfare of his subjects.
