Obasanjo accuses INEC chairman, Yakubu of polluting Nigeria’s elections since 2015

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, of consistently undermining Nigeria's electoral process since 2015. In his new book, "Nigeria Past Future," published at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, the former leader expressed his concern over the decline in the integrity and reputation of the Nigerian judiciary.

Obasanjo highlighted the commodification of justice in Nigeria, where justice has become available to the highest bidder, leading to a fear among Nigerians of anarchy and violence replacing justice. He also criticized the rapid fall in the integrity of the electoral process under Yakubu's leadership, stating that the INEC chairman has grossly undermined and polluted the system, making it a charade.

Obasanjo's accusations raise questions about the credibility of the electoral process in Nigeria.
